Redefining Greatness at the Table Pastor Caleb Roth - 8/31/2026 Mark 10:35-45 Throughout Mark’s Gospel, the disciples misunderstand Jesus’ predictions of His death, clinging instead to their own vision of earthly glory. In Mark 10:35-45, Jesus addresses James and John’s desire for honor by redefining true greatness—not through position or status, but through sacrificial service modeled by His own death on the cross. Hearing Christ clearly requires allowing Him to reshape our personal ambitions around His self-giving love. As we reflect back on Mark's Gospel for our Lord's Table remembrance, prayerfully ask yourself: where am I still trying to make Jesus serve my definition of greatness?
