A Waiting World - A Willing Church?

Dr. Keith Doyle - 4/10/2026

Acts 13:1-12

The air in Antioch was thick, not with the heat of the Syrian sun, but with the weight of a divine pause. For quite some time, the believers had gathered in a city known for its idolatry, yet they now found themselves captivated by a different hunger. They were praying, but they were also listening. Behind the closed doors of this diverse, bustling church sat men like Barnabas and Paul; leaders who had every reason to stay where it was safe and where the work was already thriving.

But outside those doors lay a waiting world: a landscape of weary souls, cynical philosophers, and false religions, all unknowingly holding their breath for a hope they hadn’t yet heard of. The tension was clear: the world was ready to receive, but was the church willing? As they fasted and worshiped, the Holy Spirit pierced the silence, calling for the church’s key leaders to walk into the unknown. What happened next wasn't just a travel itinerary but a moment where a willing church met the deep ache of a waiting world. Which invites the question we will try to consider this weekend; what does a “willing-church” look like?
