Zechariah 12:1-10

The prophet Zechariah predicted that Jesus, the Son of David and the Son of God (Rom 1:3,4), would bear the sins of his people through a cruel piercing. As Jesus came to earth he came to save his people from their sins. He did this by bearing the curse of sin and through a supreme act of love, he majestically and meticulously fulfilled all the promises of God to bring good news to his people.

Why is it good news that Jesus was lifted up and pierced?

A. The “Pierced One” is the Channel of God’s Physical Restoration (Zech 12:1-9)

B. The “Pierced One” is the Champion of God’s Spiritual Rescue (Zech 12:10)
