And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people." Luke 2:10

At Christmas, there is so much to celebrate. But beyond the blessings, and presents, and busyness of the season, there is the hope of everlasting joy.

We invite you to join us this Advent season as we look through the book of Luke and see the accounts of several people who had first had views of the joy that came from the first Christmas. Maybe they can teach us about true joy this Christmas.

November 27 - Advent Week 1

November 27 - Advent Week 1

Sermon “An Angel’s Joy” Luke 2:1-10
And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

Advent Candle: Hope
Jeremiah 33:14-16 “The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this is the name by which it will be called: "The LORD is our righteousness.”

Sermon “A Priest’s Joy” Luke 1:5-15
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth.

Advent Candle 2: Peace
Luke 1:76-79 “You, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins.

By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

December 11 - Advent Week 3

Advent Candle 3: Joy

The LORD has taken away the judgments against you, he has turned away your enemies. The king of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst; you shall fear disaster no more.

On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: Do not fear, O Zion; do not let your hands grow weak. The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing as on a day of festival."

December 24 - Christmas Eve

December 24 - Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve Services are at 4 & 6pm

Sermon: “A Savior’s Joy” Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,  looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Advent Candle: Christ
Isaiah 9:2-7 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”
