Worship At Calvary Bible Church

We are all created, wired, and driven to worship. It is a space in our heart and soul that must be filled. God’s intention for all people, since the dawn of creation, is to worship Him and enjoy Him forever. In fact, it is the final end of existence: the worship of God.

...that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. – Philippians 2:10-11

So how should we worship? True worship does not begin with outer expression. It begins with an understanding of who God is and a spiritual affection in our hearts toward God.

The correct understanding of who He is comes from God’s Word. If we do not base our worship on who He is as revealed in His Word then we are worshiping a false god. We may be creating a false representation of who He is or perhaps making Him fit into our ideal of who He should be. This cannot be. We must be engaged with the God of Scripture. We must know who He is, as revealed His Word, to truly worship Him.

Spiritual affection is engaging our hearts in spiritual worship. This happens when we value God based on the correct understanding of who He is. His worth knows no bounds or limits. We are treasuring Him above all things.

Worship in the church is a gathering of like-minded believers for the purposes of instructing and inspiring the life of worship as stated above. In light of this, we believe our goal in corporate worship should be to do three things: Exalt our God - giving God alone the glory He deserves, Edify One Another - encouraging and exhorting one another in our on-going sanctification process, and Evangelize - reminding and telling one another of the great Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We invite you to join with us as we strive to become genuine worshipers of the only true God.
