Kids in Worship
Our Calvary children and teens are so musically talented and as such we want to be purposeful about giving them opportunities to use their talents to worship and learn how God has made us each with unique ways to serve Him. There are three regular opportunities available to our children. Special opportunities will be posted as they become available.
KidzPraise is a worship team for kids in 4th & 5th grades. These students, under the guidance of adult/teen leaders, will help guide our preschoolers in their worship experience during the 10:20 hour, participate in special music during worship thimes when requested, and provide group leadership in KZStreet as opportunities arise.
Initially, all KidzPraise students will meet for three consecutive weeks but thereafter will be on a rotation schedule of approximately 2 times a month. There will also be additional practices for performances. They begin each session with a devotional time and brief practice. Then they will go into the preschool classrooms, guided by their leaders, to lead a time of worship. There is a limit to how many students can participate and there is an application process. Please contact Christy Compton for more details.
KZStreet Praise Band
The KZStreet Praise Band is a place for our talented junior & senior high students to get involved and be an example of service using their talents for God in a tangible way for the elementary students. This also gives the Jr/Sr Highers the option to learn to work together and learn to develop their servant leader hearts. KZStreet Praise Band leads worship once a month and holds practice twice a month. For more information please contact Debbie Rohrkaste.
Christmas Prelude & Special Music
We invite our students to participate in worship by sharing instrumental Sacred Christmas Music (no vocals) in the CBC Worship Services during the Christmas Season. Students will be playing for the preludes and some offertories in the services during the end of November through the beginning of January, including the Christmas Eve services.
There may also be special opportunities for more accomplished musicians. An audition is necessary for appropriate placement. At the time of the audition it is expected pieces will be at or close to performance quality. Students will be selected to participate from all levels of advancement, but we will be considering those who can glorify the Lord by doing their pieces well.
Students may participate alone or in groups. Accompanists can be provided, however, students should make preparations with their school or private instructors for assistance with music selections/arrangements. A form for auditions as well as more details are available starting in early November each year at KZStreet or at the KZBooth in the Campus Center.
